(2000-2001)

A major California energy company undertook a five-year effort to consolidate all of its corporate systems. This effort was organized into a series of projects where each project addressed some aspect of the business. Essential Strategies, Inc. assisted in the selection of CASE software, developed a model of the metadata that lay behind the corporate data, and, in cooperation with business area experts, developed models to describe facility management and monitoring, equipment and materials, locations and geography, and accounting. Among the specific area models, the facilities models dealt with all physical aspects of oil and gas production, including wells, pipelines, and processing plants. The location model supported a full Geographic Information Systems implementation and laid the groundwork for addressing exploration and oil reservoirs.
