This project consisted of an extensive review of all aspects of running a cable television network, including sales, traffic, accounting and other areas. The project initially required the creation of data and function models describing the network, and presentation of them for approval by the network’s management. Subsequent to this, the processes of the company were "re-engineered" to make them more amenable to automation. The models were then used as the basis for selecting a software package that would support the network. The package selected has subsequently been implemented and is now supporting the traffic and scheduling activities. It is expected that it will be expanded to cover order-taking as well.
